Klatovská Třída 84 - Voltas Student co-living
Klatovská Třída 84 - Voltas Student co-living
Project description
In the Czech Republic, the annual struggle of university students for dormitory accommodation is reaching its peak. Students can typically only apply for a bed after those who have already lived in the dormitory in previous years have been accommodated. As a result, not everyone gets a spot, and due to the overwhelming demand, dormitories have to turn students away. Alternative housing options are often unaffordable for them.
Universities in Plzeň also report demand exceeding supply when it comes to accommodation capacity, which is insufficient for all applicants. The city of Plzeň and the university regularly address the problem of the shortage of student housing. According to current data, there are approximately 12,000 students at the university, but the available dormitories cannot accommodate them all, leading many students to seek private housing in the city, where prices are rising. For several years now, interesting projects have been operating in the Czech Republic, providing accommodation for university students and foreign employees, such as engineers or IT specialists working in companies in the Czech Republic. The creators of the largest project of its kind in the Czech Republic drew inspiration from Denmark, where modern student housing in residential complexes has been established for a long time.
The projects offer rental units for 1 person, 2 people, as well as larger units designed for 4 people. Individual studio apartments (1+kk) are more in demand and cost around 12,000 CZK per month in Plzeň. In shared housing, the price per person starts at 6,000 CZK. In addition to modern accommodation directly at the school, students can also take advantage of accompanying services, such as a study room, high-speed internet, laundry facilities, a common room with Netflix and HBO access, as well as a bistro or bakery.
